Great River Hill Winery was established by Dr. Karl Heinz Hauptmann and is situated at Nine Peaks Mountain - a piece of treasure land at Wubei Town, Laixi, Qingdao City. The first vineyard there was planted in 2009 and the first bottles of quality wine are expected to be delivered in 2012. 

Dr. Karl Heinz Hauptmann and Mrs. Sandy Cheng, GM of Quingdao Great River Hill Winery announced the start of construction of the Winery. 

The 1st stone ceremony was celebrated with traditional Chinese folklore music. Drums are an inseparable part of the Chinese culture. In China, the color red has always been associated with power and luck, and accordingly red drums have been used as both a symbol and bringer of power to rulers and armies.
